Support the Well-Being of Our Communities: Anti-Hate Reporting Sites
Amid the continuing threat of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), there have been widespread reports of anti-immigrant and racist incidents targeting different groups, especially members of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. To support the well-being of our communities and to resist hate and violence, organizations have been collecting data on these incidents.
If you or someone you know has experienced harassment, abuse, shunning or violence, please consider submitting to any of the following sites.
Asian Pacific Policy & Planning Council (AP3CON), Chinese for Affirmative Action, and the San Francisco State University Asian American Studies Department launched the Stop AAPI Hate reporting site on March 19, 2020. 3,795 incident reports against APIs were filed between March 2020 and February 2021 from all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

A 211 LA report allows individuals to report as victim, witness, or advocate for a victim of hate crimes and hate incidents in Los Angeles County by phone or at their reporting website. Phoning “211” is free, confidential, and accessible in 140 languages.
OCA-Asian Pacific American Advocates Hate Crime Incident Reporting Form
Filing a report with OCA-Asian Pacific American Advocates will help advocacy organizations nationwide fight for the civil rights of all AAPIs.
Hate Crime Reporting Booklets in 6 Languages
Easy to read booklets in 6 languages and designed for the elderly to help them understand how to report a hate crime. Booklets include instructions if they are a victim or a bystander, tips for staying safe, and resources to get additional help if they live in Los Angeles, New York or San Francisco/Oakland.
Asian Americans Advancing Justice is a partner of Communities Against Hate, a diverse coalition across communities to document hate and demand action. The Stand Against Hatred website is made available by Asian Americans Advancing Justice to document hate and to educate about the environment of hate around the country.
AAPI Hate Incident Reporting Form
Filing a report with OCA-Asian Pacific American Advocates will help advocacy organizations nationwide fight for the civil rights of all AAPIs. The reporting form is only available in English.
#TrackHate Acts of Hate Database
The Acts of Hate Database was created by South Asian Americans Leading Together (SAALT) after the Paris attacks in November 2015, with particular focus on hate crimes against South Asian, Sikh, Muslim, and Arab Americans. They have continued to track hate crimes, including those related to COVID-19. The reporting form and database is only available in English.
The Hate Crime Map, organized by the UCLA American Indian Studies Center, offers an anonymous platform for victims of hate-based assault and crime to record their experiences so that researchers and policy makers have accurate information about the causes and frequency of hate crimes. In addition to reporting crimes, you can search the data by race, gender, religion and other factors. Click on this link to report an incident or to conduct research: http://www.hatecrimemap.com. Anti-Hate Campaigns and Toolkits
In the wake of the Atlanta spa shootings, the death of George Floyd, and other Black lives lost to state violence, people are looking for ways to support one another and find ways to speak up against harassment and hateful acts of violence. This page includes resources on how to intervene safely, as well as toolkits to help prepare our communities against harassment and discrimination.

Stop AAPI Hate Safety Resources
Safety tips for those experiencing or witnessing hate in over 12 languages.
Toolkit for individuals, organizations and allied groups to #StopAsianHate. This initiative was first started by Congresswoman Grace Meng and California Assembly member Evan Low.
Translated into 24 languages, this hate crime toolkit provides information for victims, community-based organization, and community leaders.

Educational Resources for Parents and Teachers
Vanessa Unmuted was developed in response to the increase in attacks against Asian Americans that arose as Chinese were wrongly blamed for the COVID-19 pandemic. There were over 6,600 incidents reported to the StopAAPIHate online reporting site in the first year of the pandemic alone. Vanessa Unmuted centers on the types of incidents that are more commonly found in K-12 schools. It was developed in collaboration with the Los Angeles Unified School District Koreatown Pico-Union Community of Schools and the May 19 Project.
